Don Keenan
Painting a subject without their knowing it, a surprise portrait, is always fraught with danger… and in the case of Don Keenan, doubly so. A larger than life character, electrifying, the trial lawyer community with his “Reptile Theory” of practice, a TV personality, renowned children’s advocate, often to be found unshaved wearing shorts, T-shirt, and always those sunglasses. An ex-marine of Irish blood and creator of the Kids Foundation and Bono aficionado. All this and more went into this painting. It was with relief that I saw it was warmly and enthusiastically received at its unveiling in Houston. Kudos to the courage of the man brave enough to commission this painting!

Doug Burnetti
At a very young age, Doug Burnetti made the decision to dedicate his life to helping people who have been injured and has never faltered from that commitment. Mr. Burnetti’s dad had a profound influence on his decision to become a lawyer. While in school, Mr. Burnetti saw his peers struggle with decisions about their future careers, while he was completely at peace with his decision, a decision that has helped countless individuals to this day.
As a proud alumnus of the University of Florida College of Law, Mr. Burnetti took the skills he learned to heart and opened his own firm in 1994 with the help of his wife, Deni. The firm began in a two-room office in central Florida with one secretary. Over 30 years later, Burnetti, P.A. has staffed offices located in Lakeland, Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota, and Sebring, FL as well as many satellite offices. With several attorneys and nearly 100 employees, the firm continues to grow.

When asked why he chose to dedicate his career to the legal field, Mr. Burnetti said: “I like being a lawyer because I like being able to help people. I specifically chose to represent the people rather than the powerful because I tend to be someone that loves to see the underdog succeed. If the powerful go unchecked, the people will suffer.” In addition to being a lawyer for over half of his life, Mr. Burnetti also has been a husband since 1987 with three children and eight grandchildren.
