Painting a subject without their knowing it, a surprise portrait, is always fraught with danger… and in the case of Don Keenan, doubly so. A larger than life character, electrifying, the trial lawyer community with his “Reptile Theory” of practice, a TV personality, renowned children’s advocate, often to be found unshaved wearing shorts, T-shirt, and always those sunglasses. An ex-marine of Irish blood and creator of the Kids Foundation and Bono aficionado. All this and more went into this painting. It was with relief that I saw it was warmly and enthusiastically received at its unveiling in Houston. Kudos to the courage of the man brave enough to commission this painting!

Mike Maher
A graduate of Rollins College and Stetson University College of Law with over 55years experience as a trial lawyer specializing in personal injury and wrongful deathcases throughout the nation.
Michael Maher, in practice since 1965, devotes his skills as an attorney both to therepresentation of clients and to the leadership of trial lawyers across the nation. Hehas tried personal injury and wrongful death cases throughout the State of Floridawith precedent setting settlements and verdicts.
Former President of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the world's largest association of trial lawyers, he has been regularly recognized since 1987 in the Harvard " Best Lawyers in America", and Town and Country's "The Best Lawyers in the U.S." He was voted Florida Trial Lawyer of the Year, 1999 by the American Board of Trial Advocates and Trial Lawyer of the Year, 2000-2001 by the Melvin Belli Society

Mike Maher was among the lawyers representing the State of Florida in the historic lawsuit against the cigarette industry on behalf of Florida’s taxpayers, resulting in a settlement of over $11 billion, and enforcing removal of all tobacco billboard advertising and the retirement of Joe Camel and the Marlboro Man in Florida.
As a leader in his profession, he has published extensively and spoken frequently on the challenges and future trends affecting individual rights and free access to our court system. His professional activities, memberships, and associations are extensive.
He is admitted before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Middle and Southern Districts of Federal Court, Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeal, The District of Columbia Bar, the State Bar of New York and all State courts in Florida.
